Why do horses become unwanted?
Horses may become, sick, injured, aged, outgrown (too small/not advanced enough), dangerous, too expensive or burdensome.
There are options:
- Sell your horse/give your horse away (wisely)
- Second career
- Pasture mate/Companion horse
- Sale yard auction
- Direct to Knackery
- Lease your horse: Partial or full lease
- Donate/surrender your horse to a responsible organisation:

The NSW Federation Of Animal Societies has a service operating throughout Victoria, for the purpose of the Community reporting abuse/cruelty/neglect. You can remain anonymous if you wish. Since August 2006 there been over 700 cases reported to this number. Free call 1800 751 770
